The Heart of the Home: A Tour of My Favorite Baltimore Kitchens Sold

If you’ve been following along, you know I’m a firm believer that the kitchen is the true soul of any home. It’s where Friday night takeout from your favorite local spot gets plated, where morning coffee is brewed, and where guests inevitably end up gathering during weekend dinner parties (which you know we love!).

Whether we’re talking about a historic Charles Village rowhome with a custom layout update or a sleek Locust Point corner unit featuring a massive island, a great kitchen balances historic character with modern functionality.

I've been thinking about all the beautiful kitchens I've seen over the years -- here are 5 favorites I’ve had the honor of bringing to market or helping my buyers land:

1. Locust Point — For the Natural Light Lover

When I got the call to list this home I couldn't have been more excited. It's one of those houses that when you walk by, you are curious to know what it looks like inside. Welp, it did not disappoint and the kitchen truly was the heart of this home. Taking up half of the first floor and having a side door and windows and a back door to the patio with windows, it was flooded with natural light. It also had a stunning 10' waterfall quartzite kitchen island, high end stainless steel appliances, wine fridge and tons of storage. A true dream for those that love to cook and entertain.

2. Charles Village — Gourmet Grandeur

The owners of this home reached out to me on Instagram because they were drawn to my taste in homes and confident in my ability to market their home how it deserved. This home was fully renovated in 2016 in accordance with CHAP which dictates some architectural guidelines for the contractor and designer. The kitchen was pulled into the center of the home and was centered around a 10' quart island with large farm sink, seating for 6 and extra storage. Massive windows allow for light to drench the room which is offset by the moody green walls and custom black backsplash. A fun light fixture brought some playfulness to an otherwise historic home.

3. Charles Village / Abell — Cute & Colorful Custom Kitchen

I got to see this one come full circle! I helped my clients purchase this home and the kitchen was dated and in rough shape. Luckily (kind of?) for them, a winter storm froze their pipes and their kitchen flooded which prompted a much wanted remodel. They employed a wonderful friend of mine and local designer Tiffanni Reidy to help them envision a new layout and aesthetic for their small space. And guess what? They nailed it. Fun blue cabinets, red and white checkboard floors, open shelving, and vintage light fixtures transformed the space. When it came time move out of state, we listed the home and buyers LOVED it- and I'm pretty sure the kitchen sold it.

4. Upper Fells Point — Modern Kitchen in an Old Home

One of the more unique homes I sold was this Upper Fells rowhome that was redesigned by the former owners who were architects. The home was really modern with interesting curves and reimagined spaces. The kitchen was in the back of the house and opened up to a large deck that overlooked the outdoor space. The kitchen was sleek, white and silver and had a full wall of sliding doors that hid a ton of storage space. It felt rather space ship- like. I've never seen another Baltimore kitchen like it!

5. Fells Point — A bit of European Flare

Maybe my favorite kitchen yet. When you walked in you felt like you were walking into a little house in the Spanish countryside. Hand painted blue and white tiles, terracotta tiled floors, blue trim, open shelving, a working wood burning fireplace and a screened door that opened to a charming brick patio. Sure, it was lacking a dishwasher and a fridge but it struck a chord with me and my love for the European lifestyle.

Ready to Find a Kitchen You Love?

Your home should reflect how you live, cook, and host. If you’re getting ready to make a transition—whether that’s finding a kitchen with more counter space or selling your home to move up to your next chapter—I’d love to guide the way.
